Feeder intrview

Here! No Taka, but basically I could not love Grant and Mark more.

I'd have more, y'know, words but I just finished watching Hard Core Logo and my heart is still missing from where that film ripped it out of my chest.

SIGH,

Feeder premiered another new track on Xfm last night, and I only just found out. And the website doesn't, as far as I know, do listen again.

Also, the All-American Rejects are opening for Bon Jovi again in July. ....in New York.

On the bright side, Madina Lake are working on their second album, which should be out early next year. And AAR's should be out in September! CAN YOU FEEL MY EXCITEMENT YET?

Feeder on T4's Green Room

* Grant's favourite people he's met are Dave Grohl and U2. He said Dave Grohl is a "nice man", and talked to Bono about grip tape. Which sometimes comes off during a show and gets stuck on his wa-wa peddle, but other than that he and Bono are both fans.

* Mark is made of amazing. And totally rocks the hawk, which is hard to do.

* I've heard Miss You so much that when they started playing it I thought "Wait, isn't this old stuff?" before remembering, no, I've just been playing it at least once a day ever since they leaked it.

* Seeing it played live was so exciting.

* Grant doesn't have a favourite key to write in, but he likes drop D for the heavy stuff. I love it when musicians talk shop. Though I lose respect for those who talk about writing while drunk. (He was kidding, though, and I have so much respect for Grant Nicholas it can withstand knocks.)

* Mark, of Grant: "He writes everything. He's a very clever young man." ♥

* The Delays walked in. I forgot they'd be on too! I love the Delays! They seem like nice guys, and totally awesome live. And! Greg played a red Gibson! \o/!

In conclusion: I am so, so excited for the Miss You promo stuff.

Feeder on T4's "secrets of the green room"

Interviewer: "What would you do if there was no green room?"
Mark: "...We'd have to talk to each other."
Grant: "Good lord."

Grant: *reading from questionnaire* "If we could have a green room filled with one thing, what would it be?"
Taka: "...supermodels! A bunch of supermodels."
Grant: *writing* "A ... bunch ... of ... supermodels."
Mark: "We're not superficial rock stars, are we?"
Grant: "Nah."

[all quotes paraphrased from a slightly dodgy memory]

Mark Richardson, how so awesome? They are performing Miss You tomorrow at 2pm. *sets alert*

Oh Taka

Feeder are running a fan competition, to get fans making videos to the new song Miss You. (Which, by the way, is both a development musically and without a doubt still a very Feeder song, and I am so so excited for the new album!) They, of course, can't enter themselves, but Taka put a video up anyway. Because Taka is adorkable.

Taka Hirose's Miss You video. Please note the last few seconds, and the fact that Mark Richardson is awesome.

The Cab - "Bounce!" [song]

So. The new Cab song.

Since this blog is brand new and I haven't posted anything about my musical tastes yet, here's a crash course. My heart lies in rock, especially stadium rock, but give me anything where there's guitars and bass and drums and I'm usually pretty happy. But rock is by no means the only genre I adore; I love country, classical, opera, pop, R&B, gospel, swing, easy listening, sixties, seventies -- you name it, I probably like at least one artist in it. Unless it's house or trance or those other things you need to be off your tits to fully appreciate, because I am straightedge and whatnot. Having said that, I really love What Jane Did Next, in particular the song Magic Number, despite it being entirely about clubbing and drug use. I can connect to the lyrics still, though, because hey! Sometimes I get fixated on how awesome something like a number is all of a sudden. And have a propensity to hug and profess liking for people I've just met. But that is simply how I roll.

...anyhoo, I was talking about The Cab. Now then! I mentioned I love rock, yes? Because I do, all kinds of forms of it, from pop-rock to ... the polar opposite of pop-rock. Something this blog will quickly make apparent: I have no clue how to define genres, unless it is blindingly obvious. Like, Chopin is classical, that sort of obvious. To me, if there are guitars and bass and drums and possibly keyboards, it is rock. So. I like rock. I also have an immense and unapologetic fondness for cheesy 90s pop, and love it over cheesy 80s despite having been born in 1983. But oh, 90s boybands and girlbands! A1! 911! S Club 7! Other bands that didn't have numbers in their names! Kavana! B*Witched! Ant and Dec! These are a few of the bands whose albums I still have, and spin, and enjoy. I make no apologies. I'm not ashamed. It's fun and bouncy and sunshine-filled, and the world is a better place for having fun, bouncy, sunshine-filled things in it.

What I didn't know I was waiting for, what I didn't know I needed until five boys from Vegas came along and delivered it into my lap, was for R&B to preside over the wedding of rock and 90s pop. The result is The Cab, said Vegas five-piece that features Alex DeLeon on the fabulous vocals (hear him sing Disney songs! he will do it at the drop of a hat! the boy's got lungs, man), Cash Colligan on bass, Ian Crawford on guitar (watch this kid, for he is a young Brian May if ever I saw one, and not just because of the amazing hair), Alex Johnson on drums, and Alex Marshall on keyboards and, when needed for the live show, rhythm guitar.

These boys are young. They're the newest signing to Fueled By Ramen, a label known for cranking out young, unusual bands who make it big. And I hope The Cab make it jazz hands big, because that would mean they would actually come to my country some time soon. I owe them hugs and vegan cookies. (Marshall is lactose intolerant, HIGH FIVE OF NON-DAIRY SOLIDARITY!, and Cash is vegan, from what I've heard.) And my god, I hope by the time they do come here I will have the energy to dance at the show, because oh man. I want to dance.

Listen to The Cab's new song. Pre-order the album from FBR or Amazon, it's out at the end of the month. Personally, I can't wait.
